Proofreading is a ‘final check’, carried out when text has been copyedited and put into a format ready for publication. I will ensure that:

• Your original text has been reproduced accurately.
• If the text needs any last-minute changes, I bring these to your attention so you can fix them.
• The finished article follows publishing conventions, such as, for example, correct page numbering, heading fonts and reference styles.

If you find that your text needs more substantial rewriting, for example for reasons of grammar or to make it conform to modern UK or US usage, it will probably need to be copyedited first.
